Avenue Q

Today, I am going to see my favorite musical of all time: Avenue Q. It's currently off-Broadway, but I don't care. I get to finally see this show live! I may or may not write a reaction post, we'll see how I feel when I get home. BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SHOW NOW! If you don't know already, I ranked this show my number one favorite in  this post  and I wrote about John Tartaglia who was in the original cast in  this post.  Honestly, I think I can half blame my love for John on this show and half blame it on him being one of the nicest people to actually respond and interact with fans on social media. We are unofficially Twitter best friends and I am the president of his fan club. Get on my level. Joking. Sorry I just get excited when I talk about him. But this post is not about him. It's about Avenue Q. What can I say about Avenue Q? It's Sesame Street for adults. There is a sex scene between two puppets. The show taught me a German word. It's amaz

Taking a Break

I am taking a break from blogging because all of my photos and music on iTunes was wiped from my laptop mysteriously, but my videos and music on Windows Media Player are still there so I am beyond upset because I lost some very important photos. My next post will be about Avenue Q because I am seeing it on Friday and I have already scheduled the post for Friday, but I don't know when the next time after that I will post. I'm really bummed out and I want to find out if I can find a way to get my photos back.

In the Heights

If I could play one role IN THE WORLD, it would be Usnavi de La Vega from In the Heights. I just love this character so much. And I love the musical a lot. I was a little Puerto Rican kid who didn't see much representation. I was raised with West Side Story on VHS and that was the only Puerto Rican representation I can remember seeing. And, honestly, it wasn't the best. I didn't get into In the Heights until I got into Hamilton. Because, though I have been a fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda since he was Mario in Electric Company, I didn't know he was the amazing artist he is. I know I heard about In the Heights when Corbin Bleu was in it, but I knew nothing about it. I thought it was a movie. I just think that In the Heights is so amazing and it deserves so much hype. So let's talk about it. I love the character of Nina because I relate to her. I had to take a semester off after the first semester of my sophomore year and that semester off turned into me leaving my

My Top 5 Favorite Singers (As of July 2017)

The last time I wrote a blog post about my top 5 favorite singers was over a year ago on my old blog, which is not retired, but still up so you can see it  here.  My list has changed A LOT since then. There is only one person on both lists and he has move up to the #1 spot. I won't do this one backwards, I'll start with 1 and go down to 5. SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO HERE ARE MY TOP 5 FAVORITE SINGERS! 1. Ramin Karimloo If you know me at all, you know that Ramin Karimloo is one of my favorite people of all time. I have been a fan of his since 2012, when I saw his portrayal of the Phantom in 25th anniversary production of Phantom of the Opera. His voice is amazing and soothing. I could listen to him singing anything on loop for the rest of my life, honestly. The song I chose, is THE song that comes to mind whenever I think of Ramin or someone mentions him to me: "Why Am I Falling?" Ramin is amazing. I really wish I can see him perform live one day. 2. Josh Grob

Remembering Cory Monteith

One of my favorite photos of him. I didn't want to call this a "casual screaming" post because it's not. This post is dedicated to the memory of Cory Monteith. Someone who helped me through one of the darkest times of my life and someone we lost too soon. Cory passed away in 2013. I remember when I found out. I remember it so clearly.  It was a Sunday and I slept through my alarm and my dad came to my room to wake me up. This was odd. I live on the 3rd floor of my house and the rest of my family lives on the second floor. This is one of the few times my father has climbed the stairs to my room. He told me to get ready for church and he said they found an actor from Glee dead at a hotel. My dad and I are both Gleeks. We watched the show together and when he told me that, I fumbled with my phone to find out who. Honestly, I was hoping it was one of the new cast members because at least it would have hurt less because I had grown attached to the original cast. H

Casual Screaming About Stephanie J. Block

Stephanie J. Block, one of my queens. Give her a crown just for existing. She has been nominated for two Tony Awards. One in 2013 for her role in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and one in 2017 for her role in the 2016 revival of Falsettos. Her role as Trina in the Falsettos revival is how I fell in love with her. The woman is unbelievably talented. I am a huge fan of Hadley Frasier who performed in The Pirate Queen with Stephanie and they was the first time I ever heard of her, but I never paid her much attention. I didn't even realize that she was the same woman until a few months ago I was saving photos of her on my phone for my Instagram and saw photos of her and Hadley and I remembered seeing the same photos, years ago. I actually remember posting a photo of her and Hadley on Instagram with a caption along he lines of "wish I was her". Something like that. Which is funny because she is one of my heroes now. She is just amazing. This isn't an elaborate "I

Dear Evan Hansen

This post is overdue. Especially since this is the Best New Musical, according to the 2017 Tony Awards. Personally, if you saw my  top 10 favorite musicals  post, you know DEH is a musical that is near and dear to my heart. The show is about a teen named Evan, whose anxiety makes him socially anxious. He unintentionally starts drama when he lies to a family that he knew their son, Connor, who killed himself. Evan starts a romance with Connor's sister, Zoe and is "adopted" by the Murphys. The show is just amazing. Before I get more into it, let me clear some things up. I do not support any ship that people have created from this show such as Evan/Connor, Evan/Jared, nor Zoe/Alana. I don't even like the idea of Evan and Zoe together because it was all under false pretenses. Sure they probably did like each other, but Evan lied to her and her family. The original Broadway cast: Ben Platt as Evan Hansen Rachel Bay Jones as Heidi Hansen Laura Dreyfuss as Zoe

Queer as Folk Feels

I just finished binging Queer as Folk (US). My best friend told me about the show, last year. I have been binging it for a while now and I finally finished it. If you are looking for a good show to watch with queer characters, this show is great. This post won't have any photos because it's a quick filler since I haven't posted in a while. But I will definitely write a more elaborate post about the show in the future. It's so good. THIS POST CONSISTS OF SPOILERS SO IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED QUEER AS FOLK , MO VE AL O NG But the final season of QaF hurt my soul. They had a club bombing and it kind of hit close to home, since the Pulse night club shooting was only last year. The final episode ended with Michael and Brian dancing in the ruins of Babylon and it goes from them alone in the ruins to them in the crowd as if the club was still up and running. It was like queer heaven. This show has hurt me in more ways than one. When they killed Vic off,

Something Rotten!

Welcome to the Renaissance! Let's talk about one of my favorite musicals! Something Rotten is about two brothers who are trying to write a play that will be the next best thing in England. It takes place during the Renaissance, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne. The show is hilarious and the music is great. William Shakespeare is portrayed as a leather wearing rock star, which I love. The portrayal of Shakespeare in this musical makes him seem more interesting. The original Broadway cast: Brian d'Arcy James as Nick Bottom Christian Borle as William Shakespeare John Cariani as Nigel Bottom Heidi Blickenstaff as Bea Brad Oscar as Nostradamus Kate Reinders as Portia Brooks Ashmanskas as Brother Jeremiah Peter Bartlett as Lord Clampham/Judge Gery Vichi as Shylock Michael James Scott as the Minstrel Tracklist: Act I 1. Welcome to the Renaissance 2. God, I Hate Shakespeare 3. Right Hand Man 4. God, I Hate Shakespeare (Reprise) 5. A Musi

Is Marvin from Falsettos Abusive? And Why is He Such an Easy Character to Hate?

Is Marvin abusive? Short answer: yes. Long answer: You've come to the right place. "I love my tight-knit family. I love the way they cook linguine." Let's get this out of the way, this blog, as all of my blog posts are, is 100% my opinion. Unless stated directly that it is fact, this is all what's going on in my mind. Thoughts from a fangirl, if you will. Also I have to use Spotify to link the songs, because the entire 2016 revival cast album is not on YouTube and I know the revival album better than the original albums. Also this post is going to be long because I'm actually going through actual lines from the musical. I am going to try to sprinkle some photos into this post. "Lovers come and lovers go." Listen to "Marvin Hits Trina" on Spotify. Let's start with the most obvious: Marvin hits Trina after learning that she's going to marry Mendel. Where can you find this scene? In "Marvin Hits Trina". It'
