My 2017 Tony Predictions!!

Hi! So I said that I was going to give my predictions of who was going to win Tony's in 2017. I eliminated some of the categories that I'm not too sure about and here is a complete list of who I think are going to win. I will sat the category and say who I think will win, I won't say anyone else who is nominated, unless noted otherwise.

I eliminated the straight plays since I have not seen any of them so I cannot make an accurate decision.

Best Musical - Dear Evan Hansen OR Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812
I have seen quite a lot of good things about Groundhog Day The Musical and Come From Away, however, I have heard the most about DEH and TGC and I am in love with them both, though I personally prefer Dear Evan Hansen.

Best Revival of a Musical - Falsettos
This is less of a prediction and more of a hope, because I am so in love with Falsettos, especially the 2016 Revival and its cast. But I would like to share my personal happiness that Cats was not nominated because I do not actually enjoy Cats and I do not think it's a very good musical.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical - David Hyde Pierce or Christian Borle
I believe that David Hyde Pierce has a better chance than Christian Borle, but I am betting on either of them specifically. This was a tough decision, because I am a fan of all five of these incredible men and I do think they all deserve this Tony for their performances. In the end, I will be happy with any of them winning.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical - Denee Benton OR Bette Midler
Chances are it'll be Patti Lupone, but I have hope for Denee Benton or Bette Midler.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical - Andrew Rannells or Brandon Uranowitz
Again, this was tough, I personally don't think that Mike Faist will win, but I do love and appreciate him. In the end I'll be content with any of them winning. I am leaning more towards Andrew Rannells, because his portrayal of Whizzer in Falsettos was absolutley amazing, but so was Bran Uran's portrayal of Mendel. Mike Faist did well as Connor Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen, but I don't think he was in the show enough to earn this nomination. Lucas Steele and Gavin Creel are both near and dear to my heart and if they win I will be content. But give Andrew Rannells the Tony.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical - Stephanie J. Block OR Rachel Bay Jones
If neither of them win, I will riot in the streets. I'm leaning more towards SJB because she belted everynight with a banana in her mouth and if you've heard her version of "I'm Breaking Down" and "Holding to the Ground" you'll understand why I'm leaning more towards her than RBJ. Though RBJ is also phenomenal and when she sings "So Big/So Small" or "Good For You" or even "Does Anybody Have a Map", you melt into her hands.

Best Book of a Musical - Steven Levenson (for Dear Evan Hansen) OR Dave Malloy (for Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812)
Again, these are both musicals I REALLY enjoy.

Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theater - Dear Evan Hansen - Music & Lyrics: Benj Pasek and Justin Paul OR Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 - Music & Lyrics: Dave Malloy
Do I need to explain at this point?

Best Scenic Design of a Musical - David Korins (for War Paint) OR Mimi Lien (for Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812)
I am a huge fan of David's work, however, TGC's set is also great and interesting.

Best Costume Design of a Musical - Linda Cho (for Anastasia) OR Paloma Young (for Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812)
As a fan of the original Anastastia cartoon, I really did enjoy looking at photos of the costumes for the Broadway production, so if Linda Cho wins, it will be well deserved. And the costumes for TGC are also very good, in my opinion.

Best Choreography - Andy Blankenbuehler (for Bandstand) OR Sam Pickleton (for Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812)
To be honest, I think this is pretty self explanatory, they are both phenomenal.

Best Orchestrations - Alex Lacamoire (for Dear Evan Hansen) OR Dave Malloy (for Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812)
Both orchestrations for DEH and TGC are really great.

Let's be honest, this years's Tony's will probably be just like last year. Dear Evan Hansen will sweep, which is not completely terrible, because I really do enjoy the musical, but I hope that they win for being a good musical and not just because they are the most popular musical this season.

THIS IS ALL MY PERSONAL OPINION!

Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are Basically the Same Person

I, a 21-year-old adult, is still a HUGE fan of the High School Musical franchise. In high school, had I been a better planner, I would have asked Lucas Grabeel to be my prom date. And even though I was older than most viewers, I did love Teen Beach Movie when it came out. In this post, I am going to explain how Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are basically the same person. Let's start at the beginning. You may know Zac Efron as Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM), High School Musical and it's franchise. He is the attractive blue-eyed, protagonist of all three HSM movies. And I will admit that I was a huge fangirl for him in my youth. Honestly, now I can't stand him. But that's for another post. Zac portrayed Troy in all three HSM films, but he only sang in the last two. That's right. Zac Efron did not sing in the first HSM movie. That was the amazingly talented Drew Seeley whom I will love till the day I die. Similarly, Garrett Clayton pl

Is Marvin from Falsettos Abusive? And Why is He Such an Easy Character to Hate?

Is Marvin abusive? Short answer: yes. Long answer: You've come to the right place. "I love my tight-knit family. I love the way they cook linguine." Let's get this out of the way, this blog, as all of my blog posts are, is 100% my opinion. Unless stated directly that it is fact, this is all what's going on in my mind. Thoughts from a fangirl, if you will. Also I have to use Spotify to link the songs, because the entire 2016 revival cast album is not on YouTube and I know the revival album better than the original albums. Also this post is going to be long because I'm actually going through actual lines from the musical. I am going to try to sprinkle some photos into this post. "Lovers come and lovers go." Listen to "Marvin Hits Trina" on Spotify. Let's start with the most obvious: Marvin hits Trina after learning that she's going to marry Mendel. Where can you find this scene? In "Marvin Hits Trina". It'

That Time A President Conducted Meetings from the Toilet

Happy Monday! Another week ahead. This week's weird moment from history is how President Lyndon B. Johnson conducted meetings and interviews while on the toilet. I learned way too much about LBJ while doing research for this post and it is going to be a LONG time before I write another weird history post about him. But there will be at least another one in the future. Man was weird. Quick history lesson for my non-Americans who may not know who LBJ is. Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. He assumed the position following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was president from 1963 til 1969. NOW if you're like me and you grew up with the rewatching the movie Forrest Gump over and over again your first introduction to LBJ might be when Forrest was being honored with the Medal of Honor and showed the president where he was "shot in the buttocks" during the Vietnam War.  I haven't watched Forrest Gump in years, but if you haven't
