Smash

Heyo! Today, I'm just going to casually scream about one of my favorite shows that I wish never go cancelled. And even though I got into it, years after it ended, I wish there was more.

That show is Smash!
Smash aired on NBC from 2012 till 2013. It was a short run of two seasons, but I got into the show and binged it at the beginning of 2017. I fell in love with it.
This is the opening song of Bombshell.
The cast includes a wide range of Broadway and TV/film stars including:
Debra Messing as Julia Huston
Christian Borle as Tom Levitt
Angelica Huston as Eileen Rand
Jack Davenport as Derek Wills
Megan Hilty as Ivy Lyn
Katharine McPhee as Karen Cartwright
Brian d'Arcy James as Frank Huston
Jeremy Jordan as Jimmy Collins
Andy Mientus as Kyle Bishop
Krysta Rodriguez as Ana Vargas
Leslie Odom Jr. as Sam Strickland
Jaime Cepero as Ellis Boyd
Raza Jaffrey as Dev Sundaram

Nick Jonas, Bernadette Peters, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Hudson, Will Chase, Ann Harada, Annaleigh Ashford, Wesley Taylor,  Jesse L. Martin, Nikki Blonsky and Daphne Rubin-Vega, Sean Hayes also guest star.

If you watch closely you can see cameos from Jordan Roth, Tom Kitt, Tony Yazbeck, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (who also wrote the music for the show), Harvey Firestein, Seth Rudetsky, Liza Minelli, Stephen Bogardus, Rosie O'Donnell, Kathie Lee Gifford, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Christine Ebersole, and Susan Blackwell.
To be completely honest, as soon as I heard Christian Borle and Leslie Odom Jr. were in it, I watched. And I loved it. It is about making a musical. It shows the formation of two musicals. Season 1 is about Bombshell, a musical about Marilyn Monroe. Season 2 is about a musical called Hit-list, which I'm still confused by the plot line of that one.

While they are doing Bombshell, you get to decide for yourself which actress you like better as Marilyn Monroe. Are you Team Ivy or Team Karen? Personally, I am Team Ivy. I was rooting for her since the first episode. Not only am I biased, because I love Megan Hilty and I think she has such amazing talent, but she also is better at capturing Marilyn.
Debra Messing and Borle play duo Huston and Levitt. Julia writing the lyrics and Tom writing the music for Bombshell and a few other past shows.

This show is what made me fall in love with Brian d'Arcy James, because I didn't appreciate him as much until after the show.

And of course with Messing and Sean Hayes, it was a throw back to Will & Grace for me because W&G was one of my favorite shows growing up. I was a child, watching an adult show. Don't question it. After some time, my mother did make me stop watching it.

Even though Bombshell is a fictional musical, I love it and I am so glad that there is an actual cast album for it. If only my dream would come true and it would open on Broadway. But it probably won't.

Favorite Character: Frank
Least Favorite Character: Ellis (most people would agree with me)
Rate (out of 10): 8

I won't give any spoilers in this post, incase you want to watch Smash. But if you do, be prepared for Season 2. It hurts. Like hell.

But the last episode made me really happy! So I'll end this post with the last Smash song "Big Finish". I wish there was a clip of it on YouTube, but the clip from the live concert cuts out part of the beginning. So enjoy the audio because Katharine and Megan are amazing.

Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are Basically the Same Person

I, a 21-year-old adult, is still a HUGE fan of the High School Musical franchise. In high school, had I been a better planner, I would have asked Lucas Grabeel to be my prom date. And even though I was older than most viewers, I did love Teen Beach Movie when it came out. In this post, I am going to explain how Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are basically the same person. Let's start at the beginning. You may know Zac Efron as Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM), High School Musical and it's franchise. He is the attractive blue-eyed, protagonist of all three HSM movies. And I will admit that I was a huge fangirl for him in my youth. Honestly, now I can't stand him. But that's for another post. Zac portrayed Troy in all three HSM films, but he only sang in the last two. That's right. Zac Efron did not sing in the first HSM movie. That was the amazingly talented Drew Seeley whom I will love till the day I die. Similarly, Garrett Clayton pl

Is Marvin from Falsettos Abusive? And Why is He Such an Easy Character to Hate?

Is Marvin abusive? Short answer: yes. Long answer: You've come to the right place. "I love my tight-knit family. I love the way they cook linguine." Let's get this out of the way, this blog, as all of my blog posts are, is 100% my opinion. Unless stated directly that it is fact, this is all what's going on in my mind. Thoughts from a fangirl, if you will. Also I have to use Spotify to link the songs, because the entire 2016 revival cast album is not on YouTube and I know the revival album better than the original albums. Also this post is going to be long because I'm actually going through actual lines from the musical. I am going to try to sprinkle some photos into this post. "Lovers come and lovers go." Listen to "Marvin Hits Trina" on Spotify. Let's start with the most obvious: Marvin hits Trina after learning that she's going to marry Mendel. Where can you find this scene? In "Marvin Hits Trina". It'

That Time A President Conducted Meetings from the Toilet

Happy Monday! Another week ahead. This week's weird moment from history is how President Lyndon B. Johnson conducted meetings and interviews while on the toilet. I learned way too much about LBJ while doing research for this post and it is going to be a LONG time before I write another weird history post about him. But there will be at least another one in the future. Man was weird. Quick history lesson for my non-Americans who may not know who LBJ is. Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. He assumed the position following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was president from 1963 til 1969. NOW if you're like me and you grew up with the rewatching the movie Forrest Gump over and over again your first introduction to LBJ might be when Forrest was being honored with the Medal of Honor and showed the president where he was "shot in the buttocks" during the Vietnam War.  I haven't watched Forrest Gump in years, but if you haven't
