Heyo!

Heyo! It's me. I didn't die. I am trying to come back and be more active on this blog. I may not post for the rest of the year, but I'll be queueing posts for 2018! Happy Holidays! And Happy New Year if I don't post on New Year's day.

Smash

Heyo! Today, I'm just going to casually scream about one of my favorite shows that I wish never go cancelled. And even though I got into it, years after it ended, I wish there was more. That show is Smash! Smash aired on NBC from 2012 till 2013. It was a short run of two seasons, but I got into the show and binged it at the beginning of 2017. I fell in love with it. This is the opening song of Bombshell . The cast includes a wide range of Broadway and TV/film stars including: Debra Messing as Julia Huston Christian Borle as Tom Levitt Angelica Huston as Eileen Rand Jack Davenport as Derek Wills Megan Hilty as Ivy Lyn Katharine McPhee as Karen Cartwright Brian d'Arcy James as Frank Huston Jeremy Jordan as Jimmy Collins Andy Mientus as Kyle Bishop Krysta Rodriguez as Ana Vargas Leslie Odom Jr. as Sam Strickland Jaime Cepero as Ellis Boyd Raza Jaffrey as Dev Sundaram Nick Jonas, Bernadette Peters, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Hudson, Will Chase, An...

My Chemical Romance

Heyo! I know it's been a while and I'm sorry. I am going to try to do daily posts again. We'll see what happens. Let's talk about another band I admire and love and whose break up, ripped my heart out. That band is My Chemical Romance! My Chemical Romance. Is it a band? Or just an idea? Well, to me it's a band that got me through bullying in my Freshman year of high school. I have been an MCR fan since an ex-best friend of mine introduced them to me in middle school and I was obsessed. A family friend from church, incorrectly, told my mom that they were a Satanic band and she had an issue with my listening to them. So I stopped listening to them out in the open, and the same ex-best friend burned me three CDs of some of their songs and I listened to them on a little portable CD player while everyone else in my school had iPods. I was never one of the cool kids, obviously, but that didn't matter to me. My Chemical Romance's most famous song is pro...

Queen

Hiya! I know it's been a while. I need to be better at writing blog posts again. Today, I'm going to discuss one of my favorite bands of all time: Queen. Since this is my first blog post about a band, bear with me. I am trying to come up with a uniform look for it like when I post about musicals. I'm honestly writing this as an intro post because I am working on a post where I rank all of the Queen music videos. So Queen. Another classic rock band I fell in love with in 2013? No. I have been a fan of Queen for most of my life. I really cannot remember a time before I listened to Queen. However, I couldn't name the band members until 2013 when I fell in love with classic rock. I loved Queen before I loved The Beatles. And that's saying something. Here is the song they're most known for: "Bohemian Rhapsody" The official original members are: Freddie Mercury - Lead Singer Brian May - Guitar John Deacon - Bass Roger Taylor - Drums John...

Casual Screaming About Lin-Manuel Miranda

Hello! Hello! So I fixed everything with my laptop and I have all of my photos back. And Avenue Q was amazing and I will write a blog post about it soon, hopefully. Lin-Manuel Miranda with one of his Tonys This post is about the amazing Lin-Manuel Miranda. He has won three Tonys, two Grammys, an Emmy and a Pulitzer Prize. He is so good he has been nominated for an Oscar and is so close to being EGOT status. I have been a fan of Lin for years. Mostly on and off, because I first "discovered" him in Electric Company. He would do little skits with Shockwave. Shock would beat box and Lin would rap about different things. My favorite is "Silent E is a Ninja", included below: I didn't really follow him after that. Similar to what happened with John Tartaglia after Johnny and the Sprites . It wasn't until March of 2016 that Lin came back into my life. For months people had been telling me to get into Hamilton. It's a musical about American His...

Avenue Q

Today, I am going to see my favorite musical of all time: Avenue Q. It's currently off-Broadway, but I don't care. I get to finally see this show live! I may or may not write a reaction post, we'll see how I feel when I get home. BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SHOW NOW! If you don't know already, I ranked this show my number one favorite in  this post  and I wrote about John Tartaglia who was in the original cast in  this post.  Honestly, I think I can half blame my love for John on this show and half blame it on him being one of the nicest people to actually respond and interact with fans on social media. We are unofficially Twitter best friends and I am the president of his fan club. Get on my level. Joking. Sorry I just get excited when I talk about him. But this post is not about him. It's about Avenue Q. What can I say about Avenue Q? It's Sesame Street for adults. There is a sex scene between two puppets. The show taught me a German word. It's amaz...

Taking a Break

I am taking a break from blogging because all of my photos and music on iTunes was wiped from my laptop mysteriously, but my videos and music on Windows Media Player are still there so I am beyond upset because I lost some very important photos. My next post will be about Avenue Q because I am seeing it on Friday and I have already scheduled the post for Friday, but I don't know when the next time after that I will post. I'm really bummed out and I want to find out if I can find a way to get my photos back.

In the Heights

If I could play one role IN THE WORLD, it would be Usnavi de La Vega from In the Heights. I just love this character so much. And I love the musical a lot. I was a little Puerto Rican kid who didn't see much representation. I was raised with West Side Story on VHS and that was the only Puerto Rican representation I can remember seeing. And, honestly, it wasn't the best. I didn't get into In the Heights until I got into Hamilton. Because, though I have been a fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda since he was Mario in Electric Company, I didn't know he was the amazing artist he is. I know I heard about In the Heights when Corbin Bleu was in it, but I knew nothing about it. I thought it was a movie. I just think that In the Heights is so amazing and it deserves so much hype. So let's talk about it. I love the character of Nina because I relate to her. I had to take a semester off after the first semester of my sophomore year and that semester off turned into me leaving my...

My Top 5 Favorite Singers (As of July 2017)

The last time I wrote a blog post about my top 5 favorite singers was over a year ago on my old blog, which is not retired, but still up so you can see it  here.  My list has changed A LOT since then. There is only one person on both lists and he has move up to the #1 spot. I won't do this one backwards, I'll start with 1 and go down to 5. SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO HERE ARE MY TOP 5 FAVORITE SINGERS! 1. Ramin Karimloo If you know me at all, you know that Ramin Karimloo is one of my favorite people of all time. I have been a fan of his since 2012, when I saw his portrayal of the Phantom in 25th anniversary production of Phantom of the Opera. His voice is amazing and soothing. I could listen to him singing anything on loop for the rest of my life, honestly. The song I chose, is THE song that comes to mind whenever I think of Ramin or someone mentions him to me: "Why Am I Falling?" Ramin is amazing. I really wish I can see him perform live one day. 2. Josh Grob...

Remembering Cory Monteith

One of my favorite photos of him. I didn't want to call this a "casual screaming" post because it's not. This post is dedicated to the memory of Cory Monteith. Someone who helped me through one of the darkest times of my life and someone we lost too soon. Cory passed away in 2013. I remember when I found out. I remember it so clearly.  It was a Sunday and I slept through my alarm and my dad came to my room to wake me up. This was odd. I live on the 3rd floor of my house and the rest of my family lives on the second floor. This is one of the few times my father has climbed the stairs to my room. He told me to get ready for church and he said they found an actor from Glee dead at a hotel. My dad and I are both Gleeks. We watched the show together and when he told me that, I fumbled with my phone to find out who. Honestly, I was hoping it was one of the new cast members because at least it would have hurt less because I had grown attached to the original cast. H...
