The Carnival - An In the Heights One-Shot [Writing #14]

Shortly after I got into Hamilton in 2016, I also fell in love with In the Heights and if you asked me, I'd say I love ITH more than Hamilton. Sorry. I don't make the rules. Here's a quick cutesy one-shot I wrote about the In the Heights characters. Words: 787 Usnavi sat on a pink milk crate outside his store The day was slow and it was hot as hell inside. Almost no one had shown up in the past hour and he was considering closing early. "Babe!" Vanessa called him from down the block. He looked at her confused. "What are you doing?" "Working. Still." He patted the side of the building, which was moist from the humidity. "Why do you ask?" "The carnival is open and I really want to go." "So go." "But I want you to come with me." "I would, but-" "Come on, Navi!" She whined, approaching him. "It's right down the street. You never have any fun. You're always working. ...

Untitled 5 [Writing #13]

Another super dramatic one because I loved writing dramatics in high school. As soon as I finish posting my old writing that I don't hate I will actually start posting some new stuff I write. I promise. Random, but I'm listening to Waterparks as I rewrite a load of these posts. I try to at least have some drafts done so I don't have to scramble to put the posts together. Words: 596 Alice and her sister, Bridgette, had spent most of the afternoon drinking wine and discussing the future of her marriage. It wasn't until her sister admitted to pitying Alice's cheating husband that the conversation changed. "Are you serious? You're really taking his side? Over mine? I'm your sister." "Look, Al, I know he fucked up, but don't pretend you've been so  perfect in this marriage." "He cheated!" "And you almost did." Bridgette took a sip of her wine. "Keyword: almost . I never cheated on him. Boy, did I want ...

Sorry.

Hi. Sorry. I don't have wifi at home and being I don't ever leave my house, there probably won't be any posts this week. I'm annoyed because I really wanted to keep this blog consistent since I was doing so well. I'm currently writing this on the mobile Blogger app. Which is kinda crappy. Blogger, you should get on that. Maybe I'll post little simple posts this week to keep it consistent but don't be surprised if I just don't post at all. I hate this with a passion. We haven't had wifi in 3 weeks. Like the past posts were all pre written and scheduled.

Fangirl Friday: Waterparks

This is the first Fangirl Friday and I am so excited. This "series" will not be every week, just when I'm super obsessed with something or someone. Three weeks ago today, I discovered this band called Waterparks AND I AM IN LOVE! With their music. I have been listening to their music almost non-stop and I really do love their music. They became one of my favorite bands very quickly. Also, I have a platonic crush on all three of them. @ Waterparks if you ever see this be my friend. You guys seem like a squad I'd like to be friends with. I have a few pics for this post in case I can't insert their music videos. So Waterparks is made up of three members: Awsten Knight - Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar Geoff Wigington - Lead Guitar Otto Wood - Drums LtR: Awsten Knight, Otto Wood, Geoff Wigington They only really have 2 studio albums but they have some EPs and I would suggest putting their Spotify on shuffle because that's what I've been doi...

The Greatest Showman

Heyo! Today we're gonna discuss one of my favorite movie musicals, The Greatest Showman. I went to see this movie in theaters, but being the history nerd I was very skeptical. I actually lived in Bridgeport and visited the Barnum museum often. I am a pretty big history nerd. I knew Hollywood probably wouldn't get much right, but regardless of the inaccuracies I really enjoyed the movie. This is going to go as all of my musical posts go. I will keep is as structured as I can or else I'd write PAGES about how much I love this movie musical. This is no the complete cast of characters, but I had to limit it because there are way too many characters in this movie. So I included the "main" cast: Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum Zac Efron as Philip Carlyle Michelle Williams as Charity Hallett-Barnum Rebecca Ferguson as Jenny Lind Zendaya as Anne Wheeler Keala Settle as Lettie Lutz Sam Humphrey as Charles Stratton Yahya Abdul-Mateen as W.D. Wheeler...

"I Can't Lose You" - A Hamilton One-Shot [Writing #12]

Way back in 2016, I became OBSESSED with Hamilton: An American Musical. And I wrote a lot of one-shots. I was a big Ham/Laurens shipper. This is the first Hamilton one-shot I wrote. It's a modern AU hybrid because it's kind of modern, but they still have duels. I don't know what I was thinking at the time, but I still think it was a good work of mine. If you read it on my old AO3 account, this version is edited to be better, hopefully. Honestly, I wasn't really envisioning any of the cast members here. If you're not a Ham/Laurens shipper move on. This one's not for you. Maybe next week I'll have one for you. Words: 482 Alexander sat at his desk. He stared at his laptop screen. He was working on his next essay. Why pistol dueling should be outlawed. He was hoping to get it published before John's duel with Charles Lee. It wasn't that he didn't have faith in John, he just didn't want to risk losing him. A knock on his office door pulled h...

Let's Talk About Christian Borle's Cover of "Vienna" in SMASH

First of all SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched SMASH in its entirety, do not read this! It's been a good year since I last watched SMASH, so forgive me if I get things mixed up. But can we talk about how I will never be over Kyle's death? That was the worst thing this show could have done. IT WAS SO UNNECESSARY! But anyway. Now that I've gotten that out of my system we can talk about Christian Borle's amazing cover of "Vienna". So last year I wrote a post about Christian Borle ( here ) and he is one of my favorite performers, actors, and singers. Yup. I appreciate that he exists. So let me include the song that is the center of this post: "Vienna" is a song, originally by Billy Joel and it was covered in SMASH by Christian Borle's character, Tom Levitt, in a really sweet scene. I am a huge Billy Joel fan so of course, I love the original, but I also really enjoy this version too. I am a picky music fan. Most of the time I HATE c...

Untitled 4 [Writing #11]

So the original prompt for this was simply "No, we're not fine ". This is actually a scene I have rewritten over 50 times and continue to rewrite for an old story I wrote in 2012. Full disclosure the character of James here is inspired by 1960s Paul McCartney. It's super dramatic, but remember I first wrote this in 2012 - I was fifteen at the time - and I tried staying true to the original idea. Words: 590 "Brooke!" James chased his wife down the street. "Brooke, wait!" "No!" She didn't bother looking at him, not stopping for him. I don't want to talk to you now! If you need me, I'll be at my sister's!" "Brooke, let's talk about this." "No." "Everything is going to be fine. We just have to talk. I'll-" "Are you kidding me?" She stopped and finally turned to look at him. "We're not fine . I don't think we'll ever be fine again!" "Brook...

The New Set Up

Heyo! From now on I'm doing my blog more structured! I am so excited!!!!! Every day there will be a new post at 2pm PST / 5pm EST. The only time that will change is if I had a family emergency and was unable to post. The weekly schedule looks like this: Sunday: Sunday sets the mood for the week. If I have any important announcements or changes to talk about (like this for example) it'll be posted here. If I have nothing to announce the post will be either me talking about something personal or just a normal blog post where I talk about whatever. Monday: Monday drags. I'll post a writing snippet. Some are fanfiction one-shots or pieces from old writing projects I had. A lot of them are most likely going to be writing exercises I wrote. It won't be something you'll need to read to digest. It'll just be simple. Tuesday: It'll be a post about general things. I'll do "Casual Screaming About..." posts on Tuesdays. Wednesday: Anot...

Last of the Filler Posts

Welp. Tomorrow starts the epic new beginning of my blog. The reason this week was mostly filler posts is because I do want to keep posting daily, but I wanted to save the GOOD blog posts for when I "rebranded". Tomorrow's post will explain more about the change and then we'll go into my normal blog posts of me just gushing about what I love. If you've been supporting me so far, I'd like to say thank you and I really hope you enjoy the new change! I structured it more so it's easier to write posts because the biggest reason this blog was inactive for so long is because I always took too long to decide what to write, but now I have a schedule and a list. It's gonna be lit. I actually do say lit in real life. No joke. So anyway, this concludes my really bad filler posts. Sorry.

Frasier Appreciation Post

This is the Frasier post I mentioned losing. It magically showed up again. Enjoy. Heyo! Okay so quick nerd thing about me: Frasier is one of my favorite shows and I binged it all of 2017. I grew up watching the show with my mom. She and I are the only ones in my family who like the show. This show built my corny humor. And it is where my love for David Hyde Pierce started. I promise this will be one of the shorter blog posts. I just think this show is underappreciated by people my age and in my unfortunate generation. I, personally, cannot stand Friends. I know. I'm going to be burned at the stake, but I don't like Friends. I'm not the biggest fan of sitcoms. Frasier and How I Met Your Mother are the only two comedy shows I enjoy. I am more of a drama and period piece fan. I cannot recommend Frasier enough. I love this show so much and it's such a huge part of my childhood. Plus Niles Crane still stands as the second crush of my childhood and the second ...

Beauty & The Beast

I'm a whole year late and this is probably going to be a quick filler blog. I loved the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. I think Emma Watson was a really good Belle. I loved Dan Stevens as the Beast. Last year I wrote a blog post about being excited about the cast. You can read that post here . Honestly, I was MOST hyped for Josh Gad playing Lefou. I still think that was the best casting choice of the entire movie. Plus I really loved the new songs. They kept some of the original songs but added some new ones and I love them. And I appreciate that they mentioned Belle's mom. Overall I did enjoy it. I am so looking forward to the live-action Dumbo remake and the live-action Little Mermaid. Disney is on a roll! Sorry this was so short and seemed pointless. I'm having a weird week. I look forward to thing going back to normal next week hopefully.

Marvin and Whizzer Go to a Museum - Falsettos One Shot [Writing #10]

Words: 1475 Marvin and Whizzer sat in the care before going into the museum. They were going to see the unveiling of a new exhibit showing off some of Whizzer's work. "Remember what we talked about." "What? To not make a big deal if there are a few penis photographs?" Marvin laughed. "I'll behave, Whiz. I'm not the jealous type." "Of course you're not." Whizzer rolled his eyes. "None of our private photos are there." Whizzer had been over this over and over again and Marvin was tired of it. "But there are some really cute photos of you. But they are the ones you okayed." "Relax, Whizzer." Marvin laughed. He patted Whizzer's knee. "I am excited to see your work. I really am." "Thanks, Marv. Come on." They got out of Whizzer's car and walked into the museum. Whizzer walked to the front desk. "Hi! I'm Whizzer Brown and-" "Like the  Whizzer Brown? The ...
