It's been a long time since I last posted a "Casually Screaming" post. I thought I'd take a break from writing about music and write about something else that consumes my life, YouTube.
I watch YouTube almost as much as I listen to music. One of my favorite YouTubers is Brandon Rogers. If you read my "The Only YouTubers I Watch Religiously" post, you'll remember Brandon ranked #3.
I got into his videos either my junior or senior year of high school. I believe that the first video I saw was Mad Tea Party, his Alice in Wonderland parody.
For some reason "Take your chair with you!" is the one quote from that whole video that stuck out to me. When I briefly had my Brandon fan account on Instagram, it was my username. Of course, I had previously seen memes and vines of clips from his videos such as "Try me, bitch" and the one where he bangs his head on the stove. You know the one.
I think I enjoy Brandon's videos because he still captures how YouTube used to be and he is not afraid to offend people with his videos, which I love especially since a lot of things - especially on YouTube - are PC now.
Though I will say my only criticism is that I only wish his videos were longer, but I'm not going to be mad if he never changes that. He gives us quality content.
His inactive posting schedule isn't bad, because he's always leaving us wanting more.
I really got into him when I was in college. I was dealing with depression so I turned to his videos a lot. I made a playlist of all his videos - at that time - and watched that playlist almost daily. My poor college roommate had to deal with that every single day for like 4 months.
When he had his show, Magic Funhouse, I really wanted to support him, but I was a poor unemployed college student who couldn't afford the subscription on the streaming site that had his show, but I supported him in spirit.
I did keep up with his Facebook show, Stuff & Sam. It was iconic. I very much religiously still keep up with his YouTube uploading. I'm pretty sure I have shared every video he's done since I became a fan on Facebook. And I will continue to do so.
I don't know if I have a favorite video, but I did enjoy his earlier videos where he recited the Jabberwocky poem and the bit from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when they were in the tunnel. I wouldn't mind if he brought that style back.
Brandon's content is iconic, hilarious, offensive and he's earned his spot as my favorite YouTube comedian and one of my comedians period. Really wish I could have seen his stand-up in New York, but maybe next time he comes to the east coast, I'll catch him.
If you're not easily offended, check out his content. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoy his videos and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for him.
