Happy New Year's Eve! Its the last day of the year and the last day of the decade (2009-2019). I thought I'd talk about my favorite album of the year. I would have done if the decade but I couldn't choose one.
This year has been such an amazing year for music. I thought 2018 couldn't be topped, but I was so wrong.
My choice for best album of 2019 is Machine Gun Kelly's Hotel Diablo.
This is my most played album of the year. Its SO good. I love it so much. Its full of bops and it hits home for me, personally.
This year has been hard regarding family. I very much related to alot of the subject matter on this album. I won't do a track by track because then the post will be way too long but if you're interested in my Kinda Review of it let me know.
I'm not the biggest fan of rap. I listen to Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino mostly. I was never into MGK. Even when all the stuff with Eminem was happening I didn't pay him any attention. However, I watched The Dirt because I love Motley Crüe and Douglass Booth. I loved MGK's portrayal of Tommy Lee - whom I used to have the biggest crush on.
My younger brother told me about MGK's new album which literally dropped a few days before I watched The Dirt. I decided to give him a chance. I fell in love with Hotel Diablo after my first listen. I didn't even fall in love with Pray for the Wicked that quick. But this album speaks to me.
I relate to feeling betrayed by family. Feeling suicidal and lost. Like there's no way out. I love the short tracks where they're just fooling around in the studio. "A Message from the Count" is ICONIC! We stan Pete Davidson in this household.
I love the rock undertones on this album. If you know me, you know my main music genre preference is everything under the rock umbrella. I don't always like rock and rap mixes, but it works on this album.
My favorite song off the album is "I Think I'm OKAY" with YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker. That song was the final push I needed to finally get into YUNGBLUD. Its a great song. Its catchy. This year has been hard on my mental health but this song has been a pick me up.
If you haven't listened to the album, I highly recommend it. Sure MGK has made mistakes in the past but give him another chance.
As my last post of 2019, I want to wish you a Happy New Year and to a successful 2020 full of good mental and physical health and happiness. We all need happiness. Thank you for supporting my blog this year. You don't understand how much I appreciate it.
Hopefully I get WiFi back in 2020.
