Fangirl Friday: Taron Egerton

Heyo! Happy Friday! Today's spotlight is on one of my favorite actors. I feel like I say that with all of these, but Taron Egerton is a special one. DISCLAIMER I am a little behind on his work because I don't have AppleTV and I haven't given his TV voice roles the proper love and attention they deserve. I have seen all his films that have come out thus far. And I VOW to watch the shows he's worked on at some point.

Taron Egerton is not an actor I can say that I've followed "since the beginning". I, like most of his fans, found him through his role in Kingsman: The Secret Service when he played Eggsy Unwin. I immediately fell head over heels in love with Eggsy and if you've watched Kingsman, you know why. I got into the Kingsman fandom a little late because I wanted to watch them when they first came out because I've been in love with Colin Firth since I was 8 and he played the dad in Nanny McPhee. But I can't remember why I waited so long to finally watch the movies.

I became a fan of Taron RIGHT before Rocketman and I am so glad I did. I've been a fan of Elton John my whole life. Elton John and Billy Joel are the reasons I wanted to learn piano when I was little. I am a sucker for biopics, so I was going to watch Rocketman no matter who was playing Elton, but when I learned it was going to be Taron, I was excited.

And the man did not disappoint. He even sang, himself. In case you didn't know besides being an outstanding actor, Taron can also sing. And he sings well! However, we didn't learn he could sing from Rocketman. His first voice role was in the animated film, Sing, where he played Johnny, a singing, piano-playing gorilla. I did watch Sing when it came out and while I loved his voice I didn't look him up, but I should have. Sing and Sing 2 have become some of my favorite animated movies.

While Taron's filmography isn't the longest, as I've seen every film he's done, I can say it is a GREAT one. He's played a handful of real people and he's done it well. I have watched most of his movies over and over again. I know most of them like the back of my hand. My 2017-2021 Taron Egerton fixation went strong. This man helped save me during quarantine with his work.

I have such a soft spot for his portrayal of Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards

My favorite of his films is a tie between Eddie the Eagle, (where he played Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards), Rocketman, and both Kingsman films. Though the one I've seen the most is Rocketman. I have made my whole family and my best friends watch Rocketman and Eddie the Eagle. I have no chill.

I think as far as my favorite actors who have rewatchable performances he's in the top 3 along with Sebastian Stan and Joaquin Phoenix for me. I highly recommend checking out his work if you've never been graced with him on your screen. Or if you just know him from Kingsman, check out his other roles!

He is probably the only actor whose films I own. No joke. I do have all of his films because again, I have no chill. But it's easy because he hasn't done many, but I do plan to keep up with this energy in the future. His next film is Tetris and I am ready.

Can't not include him in the ICONIC orange jacket

His performance as Robin Hood, in the 2018 Robin Hood film I feel like is SO underappreciated. Not only is the film itself a wonderfully different retelling of the story I thought I knew so well, but the entire cast is also great. It's worth the watch if not just for his performance. And I really wish we got a sequel because they set one up so well. I made my dad watch it and he liked it. And my dad is very picky when it comes to movies.

If any of my friends see this and have AppleTV and wouldn't mind letting me borrow the login just to watch Black Bird, I would greatly appreciate it. I can watch Watership Down and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on Netflix so I can catch up on his filmography. I have no idea how to watch Moominvalley, but I'll find out.

I will catch up with his entire filmography at some point. I've been wanting to rewatch Kingsman: The Golden Circle recently since my Pedro Pascal fixation is in full swing thanks to The Last of Us and I've been hesitant only because I know my Taron fixation will come back hard and I have no clue if I can handle two fixations at once. We'll see.

Have a lovely weekend! Here is two different versions of Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" that he's done. One is from Sing (2016) and the other is from Rocketman (2019)! Don't ask which one I love more because they're both so different but so good.

Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are Basically the Same Person

I, a 21-year-old adult, is still a HUGE fan of the High School Musical franchise. In high school, had I been a better planner, I would have asked Lucas Grabeel to be my prom date. And even though I was older than most viewers, I did love Teen Beach Movie when it came out. In this post, I am going to explain how Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are basically the same person. Let's start at the beginning. You may know Zac Efron as Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM), High School Musical and it's franchise. He is the attractive blue-eyed, protagonist of all three HSM movies. And I will admit that I was a huge fangirl for him in my youth. Honestly, now I can't stand him. But that's for another post. Zac portrayed Troy in all three HSM films, but he only sang in the last two. That's right. Zac Efron did not sing in the first HSM movie. That was the amazingly talented Drew Seeley whom I will love till the day I die. Similarly, Garrett Clayton pl

Is Marvin from Falsettos Abusive? And Why is He Such an Easy Character to Hate?

Is Marvin abusive? Short answer: yes. Long answer: You've come to the right place. "I love my tight-knit family. I love the way they cook linguine." Let's get this out of the way, this blog, as all of my blog posts are, is 100% my opinion. Unless stated directly that it is fact, this is all what's going on in my mind. Thoughts from a fangirl, if you will. Also I have to use Spotify to link the songs, because the entire 2016 revival cast album is not on YouTube and I know the revival album better than the original albums. Also this post is going to be long because I'm actually going through actual lines from the musical. I am going to try to sprinkle some photos into this post. "Lovers come and lovers go." Listen to "Marvin Hits Trina" on Spotify. Let's start with the most obvious: Marvin hits Trina after learning that she's going to marry Mendel. Where can you find this scene? In "Marvin Hits Trina". That Time A President Conducted Meetings from the Toilet

Happy Monday! Another week ahead. This week's weird moment from history is how President Lyndon B. Johnson conducted meetings and interviews while on the toilet. I learned way too much about LBJ while doing research for this post and it is going to be a LONG time before I write another weird history post about him. But there will be at least another one in the future. Man was weird. Quick history lesson for my non-Americans who may not know who LBJ is. Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. He assumed the position following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was president from 1963 til 1969. NOW if you're like me and you grew up with the rewatching the movie Forrest Gump over and over again your first introduction to LBJ might be when Forrest was being honored with the Medal of Honor and showed the president where he was "shot in the buttocks" during the Vietnam War.  I haven't watched Forrest Gump in years, but if you haven't
