January in Review

Honestly, I had nothing planned for this post and was planning to just not write anything. Then I got the random idea to maybe every once in a while share what I've been listening to, watching, reading, etc.

Being that some undiagnosed mental illness has left me unable to read books, even if I am interested in reading said book, I've mostly been reading fanfictions. If you'd like me to keep a fanfiction recommendations page on my blog, I would LOVE to because there are a few that I go back to frequently and some new ones.

I've been mostly listening to Weird Al as you probably could tell by my last two posts about him. Check out Fangirl Friday: Weird Al Yankovic or My Top 10 Weird Al Yankovic Music Videos. I did find this song by Panicland titled "The Edge" that I can't stop listening to. I am so late. The song came out in 2018, but it scratches my brain in the best way. Definitely will check out more of the band's music and who knows? Maybe they'll get their own Fangirl Friday post.

CURRENTLY, I have eustachian tube dysfunction. And I cannot hear much if anything from my right ear. I am waiting for it to clear up so I can finally listen to Maneskin's new album, RUSH. Because I want to write a Kinda Review about it.

I also want to get back into podcasts. I used to listen to My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark which I loved. I don't know why I stopped listening to them. I also want to start listening to The Basement Yard because I keep seeing clips of them on TikTok and I vibe with them.

As far as what I've been watching, I just finished a rewatch of my favorite show, Boardwalk Empire. It still is my favorite show. If anything, this last rewatch has further cemented it in my brain as the best show of all time. I also have been rewatching Narcos because I didn't get to finish it when I started it two years ago.

And I'm currently rewatching OG Criminal Minds, waiting for my best friends to finish it so we can watch Criminal Minds Evolution together. Criminal Minds and Boardwalk Empire have both been tied as my favorite shows for the past decade.

I started watching Tulsa King and I love it so far. Planning to binge it this coming weekend.

I have Sandman, Narcos: Mexico, Wednesday, The West Wing, and a few other shows that I desperately want to watch. Also Stranger Things, but I'm waiting for the hype of this last season to die down before I dive into that.

As far as movies are concerned, I have been on a Top Gun franchise kick since last August. Didn't get to watch the sequel till November. Never have I ever thought a Tom Cruise movie would have me in such a chokehold. Might dedicate a post to the movies. I can't stop rewatching them. Someone help.

My current celebrity crushes that I'm fixated are are Pedro Pascal (who I wrote about in 2021, but will no doubt get a second Fangirl Friday because he's an icon) and Glen Powell who will be getting his own Fangirl Friday soon. I'm still going through his filmography.

Also, my crush on Michelle Yeoh is close to becoming a fixation. I still haven't seen Everything Everywhere All at Once because I do not have Showtime, where is the one place it's streaming on. However, I know as soon as I watch it my crush on her is going to go over the edge and be full fixation and I am READY!

I am interested in the new Gossip Girl show because I *loved* the original GG show when it came out. I have since tried watching it as an adult and I now hate my formerly favorite character. So I am cautious about the new show, but I'm in it for Thomas Doherty who I've been a fan of since watching Descendants 2 with my cousins. Man cannot sing, but man is pretty.

I am always open to TV, film, podcast, and music suggestions! I like broadening my horizons. My taste in film is similar to my taste in music. I'm open to most anything. I am just not a big fan of comedies. Don't know why. Do not recommend a rom-com. I started Set It Up in November because Glen Powell was in it, but now it's February and I haven't finished it. I will at some point. I just don't like romcoms.

ALSO the day this goes up Wakanda Forever is hitting Disney+ so expect a Kinda Review of it, and a couple Fangirl Fridays about my favorite characters in the near future.

If you found this post interesting at all and would like me to make this a monthly thing, let me know! Might start writing down everything I watch and listen to anyway.

Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are Basically the Same Person

I, a 21-year-old adult, is still a HUGE fan of the High School Musical franchise. In high school, had I been a better planner, I would have asked Lucas Grabeel to be my prom date. And even though I was older than most viewers, I did love Teen Beach Movie when it came out. In this post, I am going to explain how Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are basically the same person. Let's start at the beginning. You may know Zac Efron as Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM), High School Musical and it's franchise. He is the attractive blue-eyed, protagonist of all three HSM movies. And I will admit that I was a huge fangirl for him in my youth. Honestly, now I can't stand him. But that's for another post. Zac portrayed Troy in all three HSM films, but he only sang in the last two. That's right. Zac Efron did not sing in the first HSM movie. That was the amazingly talented Drew Seeley whom I will love till the day I die. Similarly, Garrett Clayton pl

Is Marvin from Falsettos Abusive? And Why is He Such an Easy Character to Hate?

Is Marvin abusive? Short answer: yes. Long answer: You've come to the right place. "I love my tight-knit family. I love the way they cook linguine." Let's get this out of the way, this blog, as all of my blog posts are, is 100% my opinion. Unless stated directly that it is fact, this is all what's going on in my mind. Thoughts from a fangirl, if you will. Also I have to use Spotify to link the songs, because the entire 2016 revival cast album is not on YouTube and I know the revival album better than the original albums. Also this post is going to be long because I'm actually going through actual lines from the musical. I am going to try to sprinkle some photos into this post. "Lovers come and lovers go." Listen to "Marvin Hits Trina" on Spotify. Let's start with the most obvious: Marvin hits Trina after learning that she's going to marry Mendel. Where can you find this scene? In "Marvin Hits Trina". It'

That Time A President Conducted Meetings from the Toilet

Happy Monday! Another week ahead. This week's weird moment from history is how President Lyndon B. Johnson conducted meetings and interviews while on the toilet. I learned way too much about LBJ while doing research for this post and it is going to be a LONG time before I write another weird history post about him. But there will be at least another one in the future. Man was weird. Quick history lesson for my non-Americans who may not know who LBJ is. Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. He assumed the position following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was president from 1963 til 1969. NOW if you're like me and you grew up with the rewatching the movie Forrest Gump over and over again your first introduction to LBJ might be when Forrest was being honored with the Medal of Honor and showed the president where he was "shot in the buttocks" during the Vietnam War.  I haven't watched Forrest Gump in years, but if you haven't
