VERY IMPORTANT POLL!

Heyo! I hope you are doing well! Happy Holidays to everyone! I know this isn't posted at my regular time as normal posts, but it's a dire situation and I need answered ASAP! I want to start posting so much more in 2021 and have started planning out posts for the future. That being said, I would like to start posting my writing again, but being that I don't have a lot of original one-shots, but I have HUNDREDS of fanfiction one-shots, I wanted to ask you, my readers, for your opinion. You can comment on this post, or fill out this form for me! If you comment yes to fanfiction one-shots, I will be taking requests again! Thanks, for all your support. It means the world to me.

That Time One of the Most Powerful Men in the World Was Attacked by Rabbits

Napoleon Bonaparte. The name may make you think of one of the most powerful military leaders in history. However, I am here to change that view a bit. There is no doubt, Napoleon has many successful feats. The man conquered a large part of Europe. We're not here to discuss his military tactics, nor politics. This post is solely to tell the story of when he was attacked by rabbits. Yes, rabbits. In 1807, Napoleon signed the Treaties of Tilsit, which ended the war between his French Empire and Imperial Russia. To celebrate the end of the war, the Emperor wanted to have a rabbit hunt. Being a busy man, he entrusted his Chief of Staff, Alexandre Berthier in charge of putting the hunt together. It is unknown exactly how many rabbits Berthier collected. The estimate is anywhere from a few hundred to 3,000. That is a lot of rabbits. Too many. The caged rabbits were lined up at the end of the field, where the hunt would take place. It was intended that the rabbits would be released and the...

Celebrating Eight Years Loving the Love of My Life

Heyo! McCartha here, coming at you with a half-serious, half memeish post! If you're new here, let me introduce myself. I am McCartha Evita Monteith. It is not my actual name, but a name I have chosen. Each of those three names correlates to something special in my life. Monteith in honor of the late Cory Monteith, who portrayed Finn Hudson in Glee and is one of my heroes. Evita because I am Latinx and when I started learning Spanish in high school, I was obsessed with the musical, Evita. Lastly, McCartha is a name bestowed on my for my obsession with Paul McCartney. It was given to me by someone who I don't talk to anymore, but I will fondly remember him for the rest of my life. Also it helped me decide to officially change my name - when I can afford it. What does me explaining my name have to do with celebrating the love of my life? Today marks eight years since I fell in love with Paul McCartney. Oh, you don't know who Paul is? Great because he is the person I can neve...

That Time King Richard III was Found Buried Under a Parking Lot

Was feeling a bit under the weather and was unable to finish this by last Wednesday, my normal day for this series, but I decided to start posting these on Sundays- for now. This week on "That Time..." we discuss the discovery of the remains of King Richard III, the last Plantagenet King of England. I am American, but I have been interested in English Monarchs for as long as I can remember. Back in 2013 or 2014, I came across a documentary about finding King Richard III's remains and that is where my interest in him specifically began. Portrait of King Richard III, artist unknown, late 16th century Who is King Richard III? Some may know him from the Shakespeare play about him In the play, he is portrayed as a villain. It's not the most accurate. The real King Richard III was born in 1452 during the Middle Ages. In 1483, Richard's brother Edward IV died, succeeded by his 12-year-old son, Edward V. Richard was named Lord Protector of the Realm. After the disappearan...

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Heyo! I hope you are doing well! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in America, so I imagine people are either scrambling to cook or missing their family dearly. As I mentioned in a previous post, I got my wisdom teeth removed last week. I did not think that it was going to hinder my ability to write a post, but it has. The recovery process has been very painful, which makes it hard to concentrate on research. So as you guessed, there will be no "That Time..." post this week. I am hoping to resume next week. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. If you are not celebrating turkey day, just have a wonderful rest of your week.  My family is having the same small dinner we've been having for the past few years with just the six of us. Please stay safe!

That Time Charles Adams Streaked Across Harvard Campus

This week we are discussing how the son of a president may have streaked across the campus of one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. To be completely transparent, there wasn't a lot of reliable sources for this story. I don't remember when I first heard it, but it has intrigued me since then. Most of the sources I found were blogs or online articles. No primary sources. This will be a short post, but as it's a story that has intrigued me for years, I want to tell it To clarify, this is about Charles Adams, son of President John Adams and younger brother of President John Quincy Adams. If you came looking for Charles Addams, creator of The Addams Family, this is the wrong place. Sorry. Charles Adams was born in 1770 to John and Abigail Adams, who would later become President and First Lady in 1797. He began attending Harvard University in 1785, at the age of fifteen. Several sources have all stated pretty much the same story. Charles had been involved...

Check In!

Heyo! I hope you are doing well and enjoyed last week's That Time... post ! I have this week's ready to go up tomorrow. I wanted to write a simple post to check-in and share my plans for the future of this blog! This week, I am getting my teeth ripped from my skull. I was cursed with four wisdom teeth. I had the two on my right side removed in 2015. I am getting the two on my left removed the day after this post goes up. It only takes like 2 or 3 days to recover so I don't think it'll interfere with next week's That Time... post, but incase it does, this is your warning. As you may or may not know, I am a history nerd. When I was in college, I was majoring in history. I have been having a good time looking for interesting stories for the That Time... series. In the near future I would like to start doing a series of biographical posts about people I find interesting. I do want to also get back to my regular "Casual Screaming" and "Fangirl Friday...

Unus Annus: The Highlight of 2020 - Memento Mori

This has been an active week for my blog. Honestly, wasn't planning on writing anything about Unus Annus until I was watching the final live stream. I realized I cannot thank those involved, nor share my love for that experience in a single tweet, and I didn't want to do a Twitter thread. So what better way than blogging? An Unus Annus piece I made Firstly, I want to thank Amy, Mark, Ethan, and everyone else involved in the entire Unus Annus operation. This year has been insane in the worst ways. Between the pandemic and impending doom of a civil war in the distance, it's been scary. Unus Annus made the year so much better. I am writing this post at 3am. I apologize for any and all errors; I want to get it done in time to be posted later today. If this is not posted on Nov. 14, 2020, this paragraph means nothing. I am sleep deprived and emotional, so prepare for a ride! If you are unaware of Unus Annus, then you are in the wrong place. It's long gone. Should have been t...

Farewell, Mr. Trebek

It took me a bit to gather my thoughts. Over the weekend, we lost Alex Trebek. This loss hit so hard. Yes, we had a bit of a warning. We knew he was sick, but that doesn't lessen the heartbreak. This is going to be a short one, but I felt like writing something for him. As you may or may not know, Mr. Trebek was the host of Jeopardy, making him a part of millions of lives just by hosting that show. My older brother and I are huge nerds who love learning. We frequently watched the show. I wouldn't say every night, but most nights. We loved yelling out the answers we knew or guessed. We never had cable so we only had like three channels which were ABC, PBS, and the public channel that shows court hearings. Jeopardy is right after Wheel of Fortune. Whenever my older brother and I got the chance we watched and even recently we sat down to binge a few episodes on Netflix. The show was a huge part of our childhood. A good part of our childhood. Honestly, the show is probably part of ...

That Time the World Believed Paul McCartney Had Died and Was Replaced By an Imposter

This week on "That Time..." we will go over a celebrity death hoax conspiracy that is still talked about 50 years after it originally made headlines. If you are new to my blog, heyo! My name is McCartha - a nickname that I got from my obsession with the subject of today's post. I am so excited to write about it as, the "Paul is Dead" conspiracy theory is what made me fall in love with Paul McCartney eight years ago.  It's weird. Disclaimer: This is all for fun. None of what I say in this post should be taken seriously. I do not believe the theory. I just find it funny and love discussing it. By no means do I mean harm to anyone by posting this. Paul McCartney performing at the Cavern Club. Sir James Paul McCartney, more commonly known as Paul McCartney, was born June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England. The eldest son of Jim and Mary McCartney. He rose to fame in the early 1960s as a member of The Beatles along with four other Liverpudlians, John Lennon, George...

Relaunch of My Patreon!

Heyo! In 2018, I originally launched my Patreon for this blog and my edits, but then some things happened like losing Wi-Fi for 2 years and some personal stuff. SO! I just updated my Patreon and made it just for this blog - for now. You can find it here . I am hoping to be able to blog for a living. My childhood dream was to be a writer that people take seriously and who could make a living doing so. I understand that now, is probably not the best time to launch my Patreon, and I understand that many cannot support me. I will never make anyone pay for my blog. I grew up as a kid who could only afford free stuff. I didn't even have cable in my childhood, which is probably why I am so attached to YouTube. Any support can be as simple as a comment, or just sharing the link to a post you enjoyed. Thanks for all the support thus far. Have a wonderful weekend!

Announcement: New Series!

Heyo! I hope you are doing well. I haven't been posting as much as I'd like to and I would like to change that. SO! I have decided to start a new weekly series on my blog. I will keep posting the random "Screaming About", "Kinda Review", "Fangirl Friday", etc. That's not going to change. So what is this series? I asked what people would like to see more of on my blog and someone suggested weird history facts and stories. As a former history major - who dropped out twice from two different schools - I figured, why not? Every Wednesday starting next week (Nov. 11) I will have a new post about a weird, funny, or lesser-known story from history. It won't all be stories from long ago. I have some in mind regarding behind the scenes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some will not be factual events/stories. I will be writing about some widely believed conspiracy theories. such as "Paul is dead". All fun and harmless theories. I will not...

Casually Screaming About Paul McCartney!

My time has finally come.  Heyo! Let me introduce myself, my name is McCartha Evita Monteith. It is not my real name, but one I had adopted as my online "persona" and the name I will publish under when I finally finish writing something. The name McCartha was a nickname given to me because my actual name is way too common. At first, I hated it, but I grew to love it. What does my name have to do with this post? McCartha was bestowed upon me for my deep love for Sir James Paul McCartney. My love for him has become my brand and a bit meme-ish. If you are a youngling, you're probably wondering who Paul McCartney is. You've come to the right place. Long story short: Paul was a member of the band, The Beatles. The Beatles are often considered the greatest band in the world. I personally disagree with that, but that's for another post. I promise that one is coming. He is currently a 78-year-old rockstar. Yes, you read that right. He is 78 years old and still making musi...

Why Princeton Didn't Deserve Kate Monster - Avenue Q

Heyo! It's been a while since I last wrote about a musical on my blog. Two years, to be specific. I still very much love musicals. As a matter of fact, I'm listening to Heathers the Musical as I write this post. Have a special Heathers post planned for the future. Stephanie D'Abruzzo and John Tartaglia with Princeton and Kate Monster Today, I thought I'd write about my favorite musical: Avenue Q ! This has some "spoilers" so if you haven't listened to the Avenue Q cast album, go right now before continuing! It is absolutely hilarious and it's just so good. Fair warning, it is explicit and raunchy. Think South Park, Family Guy - that kind of raunchiness. In this post, I am going to scream about how Princeton doesn't deserve a second chance with Kate Monster and why she deserved so much better. Firstly, let's mention the obvious. They are fictional characters and they are puppets. I just thought this would be a fun post to write. I'll be lin...

Losing Chadwick Boseman

On August 29, I awoke at 3am to learn the unfortunate news that Chadwick Boseman had passed away after battling colon cancer. I am beyond heartbroken and for a few hours, I was at a loss for words. He is an actor I have come to love. A phenomenal actor. Of course, I am sending my love to his family, those closest to him, and to my fellow fans. The world mourns our King. This post is late because every single time I attempted to open it and continue typing, I would find myself crying. This has been worked on every single day of the past week. Finding photos for this post hurt. It's been hard to put my feelings into words. It just hurts. I jumped on the bandwagon in 2018 when Black Panther came out. I was excited for a new MCU film and I was already a fan of Michael B. Jordan, Sterling K. Brown, Lupita Nyong'o, and Angela Bassett. I had only previously seen Chadwick in Captain America: Civil War. At the time I did now know that he played James Brown in Get On Up and Thurgood Mar...

My Reaction to Machine Gun Kelly's "concert for aliens"

Wow. A two posts in one day? Well its been an eventful Wednesday. I got into Machine Gun Kelly last year after watching The Dirt and listening to his last album, Hotel Diablo - which I named best album of 2019 and I stand by that. When he said he was going to do a pop-punk album I was excited. I had hope in him before he even started releasing new music. His cover of Paramore's "Misery Business" with Travis Barker blew me away and I set my standards higher for the album. He has yet to disappoint with every song he's released since. Today, he released the music video for "concert for aliens" and let me just say ITS GREAT! The video is funny and I love how the lyrics moved. I loved the animation. It enters my top favorite lyric videos. Let's talk about this song. I am grateful for MGK because recent years has showed that pop-punk bands have focused more on poppy sounds and songs. He is putting the punk back into pop-punk with this album. Pop-punk is a genr...

My Initial Reaction to I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME's New Single "Leave Me Alone"

Let it be known that I'm starting to write this at 12:09am on Aug. 5. I'm on my third listen to the song. This is a reaction and me casually screaming about this amazing bamd. As you may or may not know, I have been a fan of I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME since pretty much the beginning. I've been a fan of their frontman, Dallon Weekes, for YEARS! He's a hero of mine. I've written about him and iDKHow before on this blog. Anyway, today iDKHow released a new single titled "Leave Me Alone". I absolutely love it. I think it's hands down my favorite song the bamd has released yet! The funky sound, the bass, the vocals, the drums. Every thing about this song gets me hyped! I'm blown away, yet again by these gentlemen. Not shocked as I've loved every song they have released thus far. I got the unbelievable privilege of seeing them perform live back in Nov. of 2018 - which is still the greatest night of my life. They never cease to amaze me. T...

The Chess Set

This was an essay in the last English class I took before I dropped out of college. I don't remember the prompt. It is complete bull. It was inspired by the musical, Falsettos. Hope you enjoy. I can still remember beating my grandfather at chess for the first time. He was proud of me. I had never seen him so happy. Growing up, my grandfather was the closest person to me. I went to him for everything before I went to my parents. For the first twelve years of my life, he was my best friend. He had taught me how to play chess when I was ten and it wasn't until I was almost thirteen that I beat him for the first time. Sometimes we'd spend hours on one game. Since my father and I were the only people who played chess with him, he really enjoyed having us over and I loved visiting him. We had remained close until I had come out to my family when I was sixteen. He was a very religious man and didn't approve of my sexuality so he wrote me out of his will. What hurts me more is ...
