This is another writing exercise, because why now? The prompt was "can I kiss you?". It's cute and simple and I hope you enjoy it. This was written in the spirit of my bad fanfiction of 2013. It's not a fanfiction, but it's got that spirit.

Kevin looked at Elena. She looked beautiful under the New York streetlights. He was dropping her off at her apartment, but he didn't want the night to end. They had so much fun, but he had to get back to LA.
"Thank you for tonight." She looked at him, her green eyes sparkled.
"No, thank you." He smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I really enjoyed spending time with you and if I wasn't heading back to LA, I'd ask for another date, but-" He sighed.
"If you come back to the city, we can have coffee." Elena proposed.
"Really?"
"Yes." She laughed. "I really like you. If we didn't live on opposite sides of the country, I could see this blossoming into something beautiful. Whether it be a relationship or just a friendship."
"Wow." Kevin smiled.
"Let's keep in touch. Who knows? You might find yourself back here and I might visit LA?"
"I'd love to keep in touch I think you're an amazing person and I really would like to get to know you better."
"Have you had a New York Fourth of July?" She asked.
"Never. I'm a Cali kid."
"It's great. A few friends and I grill on the roof of my best friend's building and watch the fireworks. You should come back for that."
"It would give me an excuse to get away from my dad's horrible potato salad." Kevin laughed. Elena smiled.
"Great!"
"I'll try to come back for the Fourth of July."
"Perfect." Elena smiled. She wanted to prolong the night as much as she could, but she knew he had an early flight."
"May I kiss you?" Kevin asked.
"You don't even have to ask." She told him. He kissed her, gently. "Why do you have to go back to LA? These past two weeks have been the most fun I've had in a long time. Why can't you stay in New York a little while longer?"
"Because shooting starts in three days and they need their director."
"You promise you'll keep in touch?" She asked.
"I promise."
"Goodnight, Kevin."
"Goodnight, Elena." He smiled. She kissed him, this time more passionately than he did. She wrapped her arm around him. "Have a good night."
"Let me know when you land in LA."
"I will." He promised. She left him and walked into her apartment building without saying another word. Kevin stared at the building.
Part of his brain was telling him to forget the movie and stay in New York longer, but he couldn't abandon ship. The film was the opportunity of a lifetime. He hailed a cab, not knowing she was watching him from her window. She had hoped he was going to ring her bell and say he was going to stay, but the film was much more important.
