Her, One of My Favorite Movies Of All Time

It's the first day of November! I am going to try to post every day of November, even if I have to write and schedule every post early. My goal is to post 30 posts in November.

Let me start off by saying my opinions on this movie is mostly biased because Joaquin Phoenix is my favorite actor.

I don't know how to go about this post, because I don't write about movies a lot, but thought I might as well because recently, I have been watching a lot.

My three most watched movies are American Satan, Her, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I wrote a recent post ranking my favorite movies which you can find here. And I wrote a post about American Satan which you can find here.

As I'm getting older, I'm learning more things about my movie viewing experience. I notice more things about the writing and dialogue in the movie and I appreciate well made and well-written movies more than Hollywood blockbuster action movies. And let me admit, I do use film and movie interchangeably. So if there is a lot of going back and forth in all of my posts about movies, I am sorry.

But let's talk about the movie.
Here is the full cast list:
Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore Twombly
Scarlett Johansson as the voice of Samantha
Amy Adams as Amy
Rooney Mara as Catherine Klausen
Olivia Wilde as Theodore's Blind Date
Chris Pratt as Paul
Matt Letscher as Charles
Luka Jones as Mark Lewman
Kristen Wiig as the voice of Sexy Kitten
Bill Hader as the voice of Chat Room Friend #2
Portia Doubleday as Isabella
Brian Cox as the voice of Alan Watts
Spike Jonze as the voice of Alien Child

Let me just say, as I have said many times, I am a fan of the Jackass movies, which Spike Jonze is frequently in. Spike is the director, writer and voice of the Alien Child in Her and this is the first movie I've seen him direct. And I was not disappointed.

I don't like to get into too much of a summary in these posts, but it's a realistic sci-fi romance. It's about a guy who falls in with his operating system.
I think the writing of this film was done very well. I think it was shot beautifully, which is why I think it's so easy for me to rewatch it

I appreciate Theodore and Amy's relationship in this movie. It's 1000% platonic and they're just two best friends. I am so glad that this movie didn't try to make them romantically involved. I am so sick of cheesy romance movies, and this was not it.

I cannot pinpoint why this is one of my favorite movies. Maybe I am super biased because Joaquin Phoenix is my favorite actor and I can watch his movies over and over again. Or maybe it was because this movie was just done so well.
I just think the movie is amazing. The whole cast was great. Especially Scarlett Johansson. She was just a voice, but she was able to convey emotion with just her voice and that proves of how great of an actress she is.

Even though Chris Pratt's role was small, I loved his character. Personally, Chris Pratt isn't one of my favorite actors, but I really did enjoy him in this role

There was a lot of red used in this movie, which could mean one of two things: the red means something or someone just really likes red.
I loved the storytelling of the movie. They didn't come right out and tell us what was happening between Theodore and Catherine. The movie gave us flashbacks in Theodore's life where he was happy and at first, it isn't clear as to what happened with his ex-wife. Personally, I thought that she had died and he was dealing with that loss until divorce papers were mentioned.

Again, I am going to mention Theodore and Amy's friendship. Completely platonic friendships between characters of the opposite sex in films are so rare but so important. Not every friendship between a man and a woman has to turn into a romantic relationship.

Even when Amy ended her relationship, she didn't seek sexual comfort in Theodore, as it has become now a cliche that when heartbreak strikes sometimes best friends sleep together. I'm looking at you, Hollywood. Please stop.

And even at the end when both Amy and Theodore's operating system leaves, they don't seek sexual or romantic comfort in each other. They just decide to comfort each other, platonically.

The movie ends with them sitting on the roof of their apartment building and together, they watch the sunrise. I LOVE the ending so much.
I appreciate this movie so much. I appreciate it's uniqueness. I appreciate it's quality. I appreciate it's writing. I appreciate it's directing and production. I appreciate it's amazing cast. I appreciate it's storyline. I appreciate every single thing about this movie.

I dislike most romance movies, but I really love this one. Go watch it, if you haven't yet.

Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are Basically the Same Person

I, a 21-year-old adult, is still a HUGE fan of the High School Musical franchise. In high school, had I been a better planner, I would have asked Lucas Grabeel to be my prom date. And even though I was older than most viewers, I did love Teen Beach Movie when it came out. In this post, I am going to explain how Zac Efron and Garrett Clayton are basically the same person. Let's start at the beginning. You may know Zac Efron as Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM), High School Musical and it's franchise. He is the attractive blue-eyed, protagonist of all three HSM movies. And I will admit that I was a huge fangirl for him in my youth. Honestly, now I can't stand him. But that's for another post. Zac portrayed Troy in all three HSM films, but he only sang in the last two. That's right. Zac Efron did not sing in the first HSM movie. That was the amazingly talented Drew Seeley whom I will love till the day I die. Similarly, Garrett Clayton pl

Is Marvin from Falsettos Abusive? And Why is He Such an Easy Character to Hate?

Is Marvin abusive? Short answer: yes. Long answer: You've come to the right place. "I love my tight-knit family. I love the way they cook linguine." Let's get this out of the way, this blog, as all of my blog posts are, is 100% my opinion. Unless stated directly that it is fact, this is all what's going on in my mind. Thoughts from a fangirl, if you will. Also I have to use Spotify to link the songs, because the entire 2016 revival cast album is not on YouTube and I know the revival album better than the original albums. Also this post is going to be long because I'm actually going through actual lines from the musical. I am going to try to sprinkle some photos into this post. "Lovers come and lovers go." Listen to "Marvin Hits Trina" on Spotify. Let's start with the most obvious: Marvin hits Trina after learning that she's going to marry Mendel. Where can you find this scene? In "Marvin Hits Trina". It'

That Time A President Conducted Meetings from the Toilet

Happy Monday! Another week ahead. This week's weird moment from history is how President Lyndon B. Johnson conducted meetings and interviews while on the toilet. I learned way too much about LBJ while doing research for this post and it is going to be a LONG time before I write another weird history post about him. But there will be at least another one in the future. Man was weird. Quick history lesson for my non-Americans who may not know who LBJ is. Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. He assumed the position following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was president from 1963 til 1969. NOW if you're like me and you grew up with the rewatching the movie Forrest Gump over and over again your first introduction to LBJ might be when Forrest was being honored with the Medal of Honor and showed the president where he was "shot in the buttocks" during the Vietnam War.  I haven't watched Forrest Gump in years, but if you haven't
